The Open Champion and the Turf Prophit Plus Champion Share the Stage!

The final leg of the inaugural Turf Prophit Plus Major Championship is in the books!

Collin Morikawa claimed the claret jug at Royal St. George’s and the final day leaderboard underwent a TON of change. Heartiest congratulations to our first ever champion, Tommy Wang of Muskoka Lakes Golf and CC in Port Carling, Canada! Tommy was the only team in the entire pool to be able to pass the 200 point barrier and it was his dark horse selection of Daniel Berger (and Daniel’s surge on the back nine today vaulting him to T8) that pushed him past Jay Neunsinger and the Boundary Oaks team from Walnut Creek, USA and the remaining teams from the top 5 which included: St. Charles G & CC in Winnipeg, Canada, Angus Glen Turfgrass from Markham, Canada and Huron Pines Turfgrass from Blind River, Canada. Unfortunately for him, leg 3 leader Greg Austin from Sunset Ranch in Canada tumbled down the leaderboard and ended up finishing in 9th place.

Here were the best and worst players to have as a part of your team this year:

Highest Scoring Player(s):

Louis Oosthuizen and Jon Rahm: 43 points over the four majors. Wow!

Lowest Scoring Player:

Matt Kuchar: -16 points (yes, four missed cuts) over the four majors. Yikes!

It is hard to believe but the -4 for missing cuts is a super cool element to this pool. So many players like Kuchar contributed negative numbers and out of all the teams in the pool, so many were unable to accumulate even 100 points because of this. Tough sledding out there!

In terms of the blind draw that everyone was entered into post the conclusion of the Open, Thad Thompson of Terry Hills in Batavia, USA is the winner!

Thanks to everyone who put in a team and congrats again to Tommy as well as the remainder of the top 10. As Greg Austin tweeted, picking a team across 4 majors is no easy task and you have to play the long game. Kind of like the budget and tracking game with Turf Prophit right?
